What is a Zine?

Most commonly a small circulation self-published work of original and/or appropriated texts and images usually reproduced via photocopier. However, this zine will not be reproduced via photocopier, well it might be at some point. Instead, each issue will be hand made and will be a piece of art unto itself. Different types of paper, printing, ink, paint and art will be used to produce each issue. Each one will have a run of 50 and will be available in London and Sarnia, Ontario.

A sustainable zine, what this zine is, is a zine that is created from nothing and goes on to sell issues with the money going towards the future. This first zine was made from found paper, and things I already own such as a sewing machine and printer. with each issue, there will be more money in the pot if you were to purchase an edition. Most copies are of reasonable price. In theory, you as readers help dictate how the zine will be made. If I have to use crayons and napkins then I will do it. trust me. ​

Where did the name Nickel95 come from?

 

When I was a kid, my mother used to always say that when she did a favor for someone they owed her a Nickel ninety five, which meant nothing.

A more common definition is :A very small amount of money, or a low salary from a job.

The zine will be made cheaply and sold for a very reasonable price. ​​​​
