As a writer myself, I have always found that it is difficult to get published if you are not well known already. With my old zine, I ended up printing people who went on to have books and win awards and the choice to have them in my zine was not based on their name. It is blind. If I like your work, you will be accepted, if I do not think it fits and I still like it, it might be considered later.

Since this is a zine and I imagine most things will be hand typed, I do ask that people send in short-medium length pieces of writing. Just due to space issues.

The requirements:

Email me at san.ria.press at gmail.com
subject: submission to zine
include a short bio at the top and make it interesting, I don't care where you've been published, but I'd like to know something quirky about you.
(this bio will be removed with the name when I do my blind readings)

In the body of the email please submit as many poems as you would like. I don't mind if you are submitting somewhere else, but please let me know if you have been published so I can remove that poem and if your poem is republished, please make sure that you note my zine.

*** please note*** this is a limited run zine for obvious reasons, most likely not exceeding 50 copies. all money made from the sales go right back into the project. Each zine is a piece of art and should be considered as such.

submissions are now closed for our third issue "blown a fuse". Please check back for the next submission deadline and for details about how to purchase the zine.

Alright. Ladies and Gentlemen. We are now accepting poetry for the 3rd issue.

It is called "Blown a Fuse."

What does that mean?

Well how about we write some poetry about something we probably all have in common to some extent: mental illness.

I have Bipolar Disorder and I know that it has been very cathartic for me to write about it. Hell, I did a whole Gallery show about it! So how about you give it a try and submit. Put your own spin on it. Write about other people, write about yourself, write about the meds, the doctors, the insanity, the hospital visits. There's a lot to sink your teeth into here.

For this issue I am going to ask that everyone limits their submissions to 5-7 poems. Please include a SHORT (yes, you) bio.

We are accepting poetry at san.ria.press@gmail.com until August 12, 2013.

Let's go mental! (wait, is that inappropriate? hahahaha.)

Flood Gates OPEN!!
